Some of my background,

I´m rebuilding my office at Nordmarken Kanot Center. Some funny things happen. I found a daybook from a mountain Expedition I was in charge of 1964 to the Norwegian Glacier and Mountain. It´s nice to read all the information in the book and remember the whole expedition   and the making of a TV program for the Swedish TV. We went to the top of Svartisen and made also a survey of a large cave system in the near of Flatisvattnet.  It has been 51 years since that expedition but I still have a lot of memories.

The year after some of five good friends and I made a winter Expedition to the same area and we went up to the top. I was snow blind during the tour and had to stay in Base Camp.

It takes time to rebuilding when there are so many books, reports, letters and photos to sort out to see and read, but in a few days it will be Ok again. I have a very fine support of our family.

The more or less extreme outdoor experience was beside my work as a canoe outfitter.

Någon gång under natten passerades antal besök på bloggen 100.000 besök. Ganska kul att så många tittar på vår information och då och då kommer med kommentarer..

Attack by the Nature

Today 21st of April I was attack by the nature. I went to town Årjäng and after some hours, I went back to the Canoe Center in Risviken. On the way back I saw a lot of Birch with very small new leafs in light green, It just happened in a few hours.

In town I saw a fil taken some kilometres south of the Base Camp , with 3 Lynx 1 adult and 2 cubs- I went down to the beach and saw lots of tracks in the sand of the Lynx family.

There was also to 90% one track of a wolf in the sand and beside the Lynx track. So things are happening very fast now and if we keep our eyes open and learn to study nature it´s the time now after the winter (bad one)-

The early spring is a perfect time for a canoe tour there are so many things to observe and learn about.

We are also working hard with the new Home Page www.nordkanot.se and we have added Danish to the WEB so check it out. 

It can only be better !

I was on a meeting today 16th of april about the canoe area.

The canoe season in Nordmarken start real soon. Right now there is a group try to make a new organisation for taking care of the canoe area, all the canoe camps and service to our guests in the canoe country and other open air activities and around the Dalslands Kanal.

Last autumn, as I mention before, there was a total control of the standard of the canoe camp ca 100 in the area. After that, there have been made a plan, to get a higher standard of the camp sites and a lot of reparation to the wooden shelters at these camp sites.

If everything goes right the new organisation will start 2016. As an old canoe outfitter in the area since 1956,  I salute this new ide, to get a better product to our guests, who spend time paddling canoe in Nordmarken and other lakes in the near.

The Dalslands Kanal system is also going too been improved the coming years. The will be an APP so guests can get up to date information about the canoe area and The Dalslands Kanal system.

Thing that happening now, things that should been taking care of years ago, and I´m looking forward to a better service for guests. I do hope that the problem with the overcrowded FOXEN Lake also  will be involved in the coming program.

Nytt samarbete med djur.

Var under gårdagen vid Hornborgasjön i Västergötland. Först var det att titta på ca 18.800 tranor och en massa andra fåglar vid denna enorma fågelsjö. Det har blivit en tradition inom familjen. Nu träffade vi också folk från de ornitologiska föreningarna i Skara, Falköping och Skövde.

Man nämnde för oss, att det var stora problem med nedskräpning efter en del vägar mot norr. Framför allt vägen mellan Mariestad och Kristinehamn och speciellt vid ett rastställe i anslutning till ett gravfält från Stenåldern och Järnåldern. Man hade nu på försök tränat tranor, att när de flög mot norr, få dom att mellanlandade på åkrarna i närheten av gravfältet och där plocka upp sopor och ta med detta som bobyggnadsmaterial på framtida häckningsplatser.

Man hade haft ett 100 tal tranor, som man med både Naturvårdsverket i Stockholm och Länsstyrelsen i Mariestads goda minne, fått ekonomisk ersättning för att träna tranorna under mars månad. Försöken hade till ca 85 % fungerat bra påstod man. 

Det så kallade Lådbils Rallyt som sker på väg Länsväg 26 främst under vintern och på helgerna, är föremål för mängder med bilar som skall till och från fjällen och vidare till västkusten. Från dessa bilar slängs det mängder med sopor efter vägarna och på rastplatserna. Det är av sådan mängd att man som svensk tro att det är turister, som inte vet vad de sysslar med. Det är ju en vanlig inställning, det är ju de andra som skräpar ned!

Försöket startar i dag den 1 april 2015 kl. 0800 på morgonen. Då släpps de första tranor som varit i karantän, efter att träningen avslutats. Luftfartsverket har givet tillstånd till att så kallade Drönare får flyga med tranorna för att dokumentera hur det fungerar. De som styr drönarna sitter orange färgade bilar med texten.
